The first row of stitches became a Barbie blanket
I’ve been reflecting on the time I spent in the mid-2000s (after college) blogging for fun, writing for work, and studying medicine.
I was pre-career and pre-kids. I was experimenting, I was weaving.
And, I’ve been weaving again.
The first week I was unemployed this year, I went to the library and let my mind wander. (This kind of freedom these days is priceless.) I picked up a knitting book. Then I was off to the store for new knitting needles and bulky pink yarn.
I began weaving while knitting - bringing fragments of thoughts and ideas together, one over the other, in and back and through. Letting things come together and fall apart repeatedly.
I am both enthusiastically enjoying this time to do the things I love - organizing my home, practicing A LOT of yoga, and baking with my girls - while also thinking about my next career adventure. The next row of stitches in the tapestry of me.
What I know
I am an excellent communicator with a knack for facilitating the sharing of ideas and knitting them together toward a goal

More stitches
After college, I lived in Peru and then Brooklyn. I moved back to the southeastern US to study and then practice as a Certified Nurse Aide. I did this for a year before transitioning to an editor for a healthcare media company. I then worked my longest tenure as an editorial and community manager at Red Hat, a leading software company.
What I have loved about all of these experiences is the magic that happens in communities and conversations.
So, while my longest uninterrupted weave of experience is in software marketing - my next stitch may be over to health and wellness where I feel pulled once again.
